An article posted yesterday in the Vancouver Sun spoke about the drugs fertility doctors are giving their patients. The cause for concern may stem from younger and relatively healthy women moving to IVF as a means of attaining a pregnancy faster.

Infertility rates in Canada have been on a steady upward climb for the last many decades. I just wanted to share some statistics for the last 30 years, and some correlations that should not be overlooked. These correlations quite likely display some of the causes of the infertility trend, and they are either reversible or treatable.

A wonderful email from a client that needed to be shared. It portrays a journey I see over and over with women and their fertility struggles. The self-reflection and beautiful changes that come with these tough times are often the silver lining that begs to be given the spotlight it truly deserves.
The bullet points are my responses.
Thank you for your email and checking in on me. You know me well ;-)
I'm honestly not really sure what I was looking for. But I felt the same way as you did. Something was missing when I left.

I like sharing the emails I get from clients that I believe are important for other women to read. I am so impressed by the way this woman views life. She is full of faith and it shows in how she surrenders and accepts her reproductive outcomes.

I love watching the deeper healing that happens in my clients after a strong trust is formed, commitment to treatment is established, and a movement beyond mere physical health begins. The following is a email I received from a client after sending her a recommendation to watch the documentary 'Hungry for Change'. The later in italics is my response.

I recently posted about 4 clients telling me they were pregnant in 2 days, well, that has increased to 12 women pregnant in the last 2 weeks. Yes, I am astonished and over the moon with the positive energy surging through my practice. I could not be more grateful, elated, and beaming with faith. I surrender at the amazing powers that are at play.

Daily ejaculation (or more!) is important when trying to optimize sperm. A Spanish study published in the November 2011 edition of Fertility & Sterility (the bible of reproductive health peer reviewed medical publications) states: "Overall, if oxidative stress in the epididymis increases SDF (sperm DNA fragmentation), then the more prolonged the storage time in epididymis the higher will be the increase in SDF. Thus, reducing the storage time should help to prevent the extratesticular increase in SDF." Translation, ejaculate more often.

Fashion and fertility is not the focus of this blog post. When I refer to the 'belt' I am making reference to an ancient Chinese concept of the Dai Mai, a vessel that runs around the midsection of the body just like a belt.

I read an article today about PCOS and it's links to diabetes and cardiovascular health. More interestingly it talked about PCOS being an evolutionary survival mechanism; ovulate less when times are tough. It also stated that stress triggers a similar mechanism, yet again another tie between infertility and stress. The conclusion had this excerpt and quote from a doctor that I wanted to share...
